What Happens During a Plumbing Inspection?
If you’ve never scheduled a residential plumbing inspection before, you might not know what to expect. Is there anything you need to do before the plumber arrives? What will the plumber actually do during the inspection process? What happens if your home doesn’t “pass” the plumbing inspection?
Fortunately, our team at McLaughlin Plumbing Inc is here to put your worries to rest. There is no “pass” or “fail” to a plumbing inspection; it’s just a process used to give you a comprehensive overview of your plumbing system’s condition. Below, we’ll go over our standard plumbing inspection process in greater detail so that you’ll know exactly what to expect.
- Visual inspection. First, we will check all the fixtures throughout your home, looking for any signs of leaks, corrosion, or worn seals.
- Water pressure check. When water pressure is too high, it can put excess strain on pipes on fixtures, which can lead to premature wear and tear. If water pressure is too low, there may be an issue within your plumbing system, such as a pipe blockage. Our team will check if your water pressure is within a safe and efficient range.
- Pipe assessment. Our team will carefully examine accessible pipes throughout your home, such as the ones under sinks, in your basement, or in your crawl space. We will be looking for leaks, corrosion, or loose fittings.
- Drain evaluation. We’ll test drains in sinks, tubs, and showers to see if the drainage systems are functioning properly.
- Final report. After we have completed the plumbing inspection, we’ll give you a complete report with our findings and recommendations. This information will help you make wise decisions when it comes to maintaining and upgrading your home’s plumbing system.
